This type of manicure has been done since the beginning of the 20th century, but today it still does not go out of fashion and is very popular thanks to the simplicity and that it projects naturalness and elegance; it then becomes the ideal style that will serve us for all occasions and combines perfectly with what we wear.
The manicure had its origin in Paris and is the one that consists of showing the pink of the nails with white tips, so it is said that it is very natural; the tips should be painted white, while the rest with a nail polish (enamel, varnish) of light pink or a colorless one.
Prepare all the materials you will need to make manicure.
Start by gathering everything you need; in the market you can find kits already made to make this type of manicure, which basically consists of a pink enamel to give it the natural color, another white enamel to paint the tips and some guide strips; but you can find shades that you like the most if you decide to buy them separately. You will also need a base and a prebake so that your nails will last painted in this way for longer. A utensil that you cannot miss is an orange toothpick and also an oil for the cuticles.
Remove the old enamel
To prepare the nails the first thing you should do is remove the remains of enamel that you may have on them; do it with an nail polish remover; as a recommendation we tell you to get one without acetone, because this component can make the nails dry out and spoil.
Clean your nails well
You must make sure that your nails are totally clean, you can use a solution based on lemon juice, moisten your nails in it and then brush them.
Wash your hands
Apply a softener for the cuticle, then proceed to wash your hands with warm water and then soak your hands (warm soapy water) for five minutes, so that in this way the cuticles become softer, after this time rinse your hands, take a towel and dry your hands and nails.
Orange stick
Take the toothpick and gently start pushing all your cuticles (do not go to cut them, it is not recommended); it is important that you know that it does not have to hurt and that it is good that you sterilize your toothpick with alcohol before use. If suddenly you see a skin coming out you must cut it, but with great care.
Exfoliate your hands
Then proceed to exfoliate your hands with a mixture of hand cream and sugar, do it gently to your wrists; then rinse with warm water and then apply a hand lotion, which is moisturizing.
Softens the surface of your nails
Polish them with a polisher.
Nail filing
Now tie your nails with the shape of your preference; the filing should always be to the same side, starting from the inside and not as a saw, because if you do not do it like this, your nails could break. In this type of manicure it is advisable to leave the nails a little long.
Apply a hardening base
Apply a hardening base that has vitamin E on your nails, so that you take care of your nails and do not become soft or peel. Do it from the inside of your nail outward, first the center and then the sides, you must let them dry completely.
Application of pink enamel
Now apply the pink enamel, choose a shade that is as natural as possible, let it dry and then apply a second layer, then let it dry again and apply a third. The layers should be thin and made several times because it is a very light color. You have to do it in the same way, starting from the inside out, starting first in the center and then on the sides; it is recommended to make each layer with three brushstrokes.
Application of the color white
It is time for you to paint your tips with white, that is, the stripe that is the main feature of this style; this could be the most complicated part if you had to do it with a pulse, but for that there are labels or guide strips, put one on each of your nails, leaving the space you want to be painted white and looking that in all there is the same distance.
Take your varnish (nail polish, enamel) white and start painting the tips and then wait for them to dry very well; you can remove the Band-Aids and you will realize that the lines will have been perfect for you. It is better to use guiding tools to make the French, because if the white line is not very precise, it will not give that elegance and will not look pretty. Now, if you have an excellent pulse or a lot of practice, you can do without the guides, but if you are starting it is almost mandatory.
The line must match the shape of your nail, so the templates that contain a sticker come with a curved shape, so they are more defined, just like if you do not have, it does not matter, choose to use small strips of adhesive tape or heat. It is better if you do it with a brush of very fine bristles.
Brightness
This would be the final touch; make an enamel that is special to give shine to your nails and so that it also helps you to last longer your manicure. As the shines give a transparent color, it will not affect at all the color that your nails already have.
Retouching
If you see that you had some traces of varnish left outside your nails, take a cotton knob (which is special for ears), soak it in nail polish remover and remove them.
French variants
There are other variants to this type of manicure that are quite similar and that the process is therefore very similar; among this we find for example that it has two white lines or change the white for another color.
The Ruffian is a French manicure but inverted, or there is also another where several colors are combined, both for the line and for the base.
If you choose to make it bicolor to look a little different, get out of the traditional and be more original, we tell you that having it in this way does not lose the elegance that this style gives; here all you have to do is put larger samples, when you make your own adhesive or whatever you are going to use to make the manicure; by making it a larger size you can paint each part of a color, you can play as you like.
