What are drooping eyelids
Drooping eyelids or hooded eyelids are an excessive hanging of the upper eyelid. The end of it may become lower than normal (ptosis) or there may be an excess of skin bagged in it (dermatocalasis). Normally, drooping eyelids are usually a combination of both conditions. All this can be due to different causes, but the most common is age, although many people have them from birth. When descending from the forehead bone to the eyelash line, this phenomenon brings several negative consequences. In addition to thickening the eyelid and giving a sad or tired look to the look, it darkens the fold of the eyelashes.
Why they are
There are many different causes for which drooping eyes can be caused. The most common are as follows.
- Age: Over the years, the skin and muscle of the eye area begins to lose elasticity, and falls as a result of gravity. In addition, the lower part of the line and eyelashes relaxes, also helping the appearance of tiredness.
- Genetic inheritance: another possible cause of drooping eyelids is that you were born with that particular eye shape.
- Injuries or ailments: sometimes facial paralysis, migraines, an accident or blow to an eye or other injuries can also cause drooping eyelids.
What types are there
There are three main types of drooping eyelids or eyes:
- Drooping eyelids: occurs when the muscles or skin of the eyelid begin to lose elasticity or stretch. Normally they are due to the passage of time, although they can also be the product of a blow or disease of the eye.
- Drooping eyebrows: they are also the product of aging in that area. The skin stretches on the part of the forehead and tends to descend, causing the eyelid to droop.
- Excess skin: aging in the skin can also cause the upper eyelid to descend towards the eyelashes. This could bring visual problems as a consequence.

Instructions for makeup drooping eyelids
After selecting the makeup products that will help you hide the effect of drooping eyes, you will have to proceed to make them up. The basic tricks to make up drooping eyelids are at three levels: eyebrows, eyelash line and eyelids.
These tricks consist mainly of ascending strokes that enhance the look and the corner of the eyes. The steps you must follow to achieve this are the following:
- Apply base: the first step will be to apply a little base on the eyelid, before applying makeup or applying other products. This step will help the shadow and eyeliner to permeate better, without sliding or slipping on the eyelid.
- Correct dark circles: it is about applying a concealer of dark circles just under the eyes. Apart from decreasing the dark appearance of dark circles, it will correct other imperfections. In this way, you will reduce the appearance of drooping eyelids and give more shine to your look.
- Apply matte shadow: you will need to apply shadows that help lift the drooping eyelid. To do this, you must apply them right on the arch of the eyebrows, lowering the color towards the eyelid, to enlarge the look. It is recommended that the colors are earthy (beige or brown among others), and that they are matte. Bright tones could swell the eyelid more, and make it look more droopy.
- Apply brown shadows: shades of brown tones are best suited to disguise the effect of drooping eyelids. The idea to achieve this is to follow the shape of the eye socket to highlight it. By doing it this way, the eye looks wider and stretched.
- Outline your eyes: One of the most important steps is to outline your eyes. To do this you will have to eyeliner or eyeliner on the upper part of the eyelid. Thus, your eyes will look more stylized and open. The most flattering way for this process is to apply it directly to the lash line, as close as possible to the eyeball. You will have to draw a fine line “flush” of your eyelashes, lengthening it at the end. In this way a slight rabito will be drawn towards the temple.
- Cat eye outline: this outline is another good alternative to enhance the eyelid. It consists of drawing an upward corner at the end of the lash line, so that it is more enhanced. To do it correctly, you must first draw a fine line near the eyelashes, starting from the tear. As you approach the other end of the eye, try to make the stroke somewhat thicker and draw it slightly upwards. Finally, join the line you have drawn with the rest of the outline and fill it all with the same eyeliner.
- Apply mascara: once your eyes are made up, you will have to apply mascara. You will need to do it both at the top and at the bottom. You should start from the roots of the eyelashes forward, placing more emphasis on the tips.
- Define the eyebrows: the last step to correct drooping eyelids, and one of the most essential, will be to define the eyebrows. First of all, you will have to start by combing them up following their natural shape. Then you will have to apply eyebrow shade, preferably a brown tone. With this you will shape and cover the gaps that do not have hair. In addition to enhancing your eyebrows, this will make your eyes look big and full of life.
