The Best Notes for Perfumes This Season

The Best Notes for Perfumes This Season

It is not enough to look good, it is also necessary to smell good. In fact, it is part of the first impression we give to others and the treatment we receive could depend on it, regardless of the plane we are talking about.

People who smell bad are usually associated with poor hygiene and are therefore discriminated against, left in the background and not taken seriously. For a job or for any other matter.

Hence the importance of good hygiene, so as not to give off bad smells that will repel the people around us and that will make a bad impression. However, sometimes, it is not enough to have good hygiene. Those who have the pH of the body too acidic, tend to emanate a very strong characteristic smell when they perspire. In that case, what can you do?

An excellent strategy is the use of perfume. This is a product, usually liquid, that is applied to the body and that allows the person to give off a good smell, a pleasant one that makes them enjoy their presence.

Of course, there are many types of perfumes. As we are all different, there will be some that go better with our personality, while others will seem to us that they are too strong or even smell bad.

Something that will help you make a good choice, when buying a perfume, is to know the notes that compose it. But what is a note? Maybe the term has relationships with music. But, in this case, this is not the case.

In this post you will not only know what a note is, in terms of perfumery, but you will also know which are in trend in this season. Let’s see.

Instructions

The notes of a perfume are related to the characteristics or olfactory marks that can be perceived in the aroma, which can be present from the first moment it is applied until the smell disappears completely.

In some cases, the notes describe the type of aroma. But, in others, it is part of a combination, where its presence is very subtle and even almost imperceptible. They are the ones that are responsible for defining a fragrance, depending on the note in which they are.

In the olfactory pyramid, the notes are present as follows:

  1. Top notes: these are present at the beginning. When a fragrance is released, the first notes we perceive are those of output. They usually only last a few minutes and then disappear or lose their intensity. They are the ones that open the way for the notes that we will perceive later. In turn, they are responsible for placing a perfume in a certain group of fragrances.
  2. The heart notes: these have a larger weight in the perfume, since they can last for hours. At the same time, they are mixed with the base notes to give greater density to the aroma of the perfume and so that it can be perceived more clearly.
  3. The background: although it is true that they cannot be appreciated at first, they are the longest and those that serve as the basis for the aroma. Sometimes, they can be noticed when you vacuum deeply and are the ones that last the longest.

In fact, they can remain impregnated in the skin for a full day, while, in fabrics, the fragrance extends for several days.

Now that you are more familiar with what a note is in perfumes, you need to know what the best notes are for this season.

What You Need

For this season, the notes that are in trend, are those that allow the perfume to have certain characteristics, such as freshness, softness and lightness. Some of them are the following:

  •  Tonka bean.
  •  Jasmine.
  •  Red fruits.
  •  Nardos.
  •  Vetiver.
  •  Leather.
  •  Roses.
  •  Vanilla.
  •  Ginger.
  •  Orange blossom.
  •  Citron.
  •  Orange tree.
  •  Chocolates.
  •  Kiwi.
  •  Pink pepper.
  •  Watermelons.
  •  Violets.
  •  Sandalwood.
  •  Moss.
  •  Cedar.
  •  Peonies.
  •  Teak wood.

Of course, we must remember that a perfume is the result of the combination of three notes, which, in turn, are made up of more than one fragrance. That is, one note, can be composed of two or three fragrances, such as jasmine, grapefruit and cinnamon.

Although this is a list of the notes that are most in trend for this season, among the most popular are the great classics: jasmine, roses and vanilla. Aromas that create an olfactory memory and that transport us to dates, places and faces in particular.

In the case of the notes for men’s perfumes, the best for this season are those of wood, jasmine, lavender and tangerine. Therefore, if you want to go along with fashion, in terms of perfumery, you cannot stop buying the perfumes that are composed of these notes.

Councils

It is important that you keep in mind that each note is grouped into an olfactory family. There are several ways to do this. But, this time, I will show you two ways to do it. According to Michael Edwards’ wheel:

  • The first section is of the fresh notes. In it are the aromas of citrus, water, fruit and herbal. However, the fruity note is mixed with the next section.
  • The second section. It is composed of a wide range of floral aromas, which give continuity to the next part of the circumference.
  • In the third section are the oriental suaves, complete and the wooden and, in turn, pass to the next section of the wheel.
  • Finally, in the fourth section we find the notes of wood, moss, dry wood, as well as aromatic herbs. These notes are integrated with the first section to give continuity to the wheel and repeat the cycle.

According to the French perfume committee

The notes are grouped into 7 categories, which are as follows:

  • Woody: These notes are very intense and deep.
  • Chypre: this category was created in 1917 but has undergone an evolution and has been combined with other notes and fragrances.
  • Citrus: in this category are the notes of lemon, orange, mandarin, as well as any other citrus. All of them are responsible for bringing freshness to the aromas in which they are included.
  • Leather: it has its own smell and with great force. Therefore, these notes are used with great subtlety so that, due to their intensity, they do not distort the good aroma of the perfume.
  • Floral: as its name implies, in this category are all those notes that are related to flowers and can be used alone, but also combined with other notes.
  • Fougére: this category is related to the nature and humidity of forests. In fact, its name is a French word meaning fern.
